I’m always amazed at how much Day, even at such a young age, truly appreciates tradition, old houses with a story, and country-style interiors. Once she steps into a place like this, it’s nearly impossible to get her back outside—she just wants to soak up every moment. Whether she’s cozied up by the fireplace, taking in the rich fabrics, the rustic materials, or the carefully chosen decorations, she’s in her element.

It’s no surprise that she loves designing and styling homes on her laptop—her passion for creating beautiful, inviting spaces runs deep. For Day, these experiences are priceless, and it’s one of the reasons why I don’t mind spending a little more on unique places to stay. Seeing her so completely absorbed and delighted by these surroundings makes it worth every penny so this one is definitely on our wish list for Christmas ;o) so let me tell you way…

Exploring the Cotswolds: England’s Idyllic Countryside

The Cotswolds is a stunning region in southwestern England, renowned for its rolling hills, picturesque villages, and quintessential English charm. Covering parts of five counties—Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, Wiltshire, and Worcestershire—this area is one of the largest Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in the United Kingdom.
1. Rolling Hills and Verdant Landscapes:
The Cotswolds is famous for its gently rolling hills that stretch across the horizon. The landscape is dotted with fields, meadows, and woodlands, offering a breathtaking view in every season. From blooming wildflowers in the spring to golden fields in the summer and autumn, the natural beauty of the Cotswolds is ever-changing.
2. Historic Villages:
The region is home to some of England’s most picturesque villages, known for their honey-colored limestone cottages. Villages like Bibury, Bourton-on-the-Water, and Chipping Campden are popular among visitors for their charming homes, winding streets, and historic buildings. Many of these villages have retained their medieval character, making them feel like a step back in time.

3. Rich Heritage and Culture:
The Cotswolds is steeped in history, with countless manor houses, castles, and gardens to explore. Blenheim Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and Sudeley Castle are just two of the many historic attractions that draw visitors to the area. Additionally, the region has a thriving arts and crafts scene, influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement of the late 19th century.
