Into the Heart of Africa
A Continent of Wonders – Where Our Dreams Begin
Africa
Africa is majestically vast—larger than three contiguous United States, with more than 131 Connecticuts thrown in for full measure. Home to 54 countries, the most of any continent, its scale and diversity are simply breathtaking. From Algeria, the 10th largest country in the world, to the tiny yet stunning Seychelles, ranked 198th, Africa stretches across an incredible spectrum of landscapes, cultures, and wildlife.
At FemmVoyage, we’re not just captivated by Africa—we’re deeply inspired. It’s a place that awakens something powerful within: a sense of connection, raw beauty, and adventure unlike anywhere else.
Think of the Sahara Desert, the world’s most formidable sea of sand. Then zoom in on the snow-capped peaks of East Africa—yes, glaciers still grace Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Kenya, and the Rwenzori Mountains. Between these extremes lies nearly every climate zone on Earth (except polar… although the icy summits come close!).
And then there’s the wildlife: Africa is home to more unique animal species than any other continent. Whether you’re drawn by the thunder of the wildebeest migration, the elegance of giraffes moving through the acacia trees, or the quiet presence of mountain gorillas, this continent will take your breath away—again and again.
We’re map lovers, just like many of you. So we’ll be introducing the incredible destinations we’re curating for upcoming FemmVoyage journeys—beginning with Tanzania in 2026, and expanding into other handpicked countries that truly capture the soul of Africa.
Curious where we’re heading? From the rolling dunes of Morocco to the savannahs of Kenya, the highlands of Ethiopia, the hidden oases of Namibia, and the cultural heartbeat of South Africa… there’s so much to explore, and we can’t wait to share it with you.

Where the Safari Was Born
Whether you’re watching elephants cross the plains at sunset or waking up to the sound of lions calling in the distance,
Africa is a place that pulls you deep into the rhythms of nature. It’s also where the heartbeat of FemmVoyage’s African adventures begins—because here, wild beauty and deep heritage dance side by side.
More than just a destination. A place where your soul stretches out with the horizon.
Kenya
Our African story wouldn’t be complete without Kenya—the soul of the classic safari, and a country that has inspired travelers for generations. It’s here, near the lush coffee plantations at the foot of the Ngong Hills, that the legendary Baroness Karen Blixen lived and wrote Out of Africa—a love letter to the land that still echoes in every breeze that brushes the savannah.
Kenya is the only country in the world named after a mountain. And fittingly so, for it rises in every sense: in landscape, wildlife, and cultural richness. It’s the birthplace of the modern safari, with no fewer than 54 national parks and game reserves, both public and private. These protected lands are home to a stunning 25,000 species, including 390 different mammals, many of which roam freely through iconic landscapes like the Masai Mara, Amboseli, and Tsavo.

Tanzania
If Kenya is the heart of safari, then Tanzania is its wild, untamed soul.
Covering over 364,000 square miles, Tanzania has devoted more than a third of its land to national parks and conservation areas—a breathtaking commitment to nature. From the snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain, to the sun-drenched savannas of the Serengeti, and the spice-scented shores of Zanzibar, this country is a story of contrasts told through landscapes that feel almost otherworldly.
But what truly sets Tanzania apart is its role in hosting the greatest wildlife spectacle on Earth: the annual migration. Over two million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles thunder across the Serengeti in search of fresh grasslands, chased by hungry predators and trailed by dust and drama.

Where Nature Writes the Script
This mass movement—shared with neighboring Kenya’s Maasai Mara—is one of the most awe-inspiring natural events on the planet. No screen or photo can quite capture the raw power of being there.
Tanzania is also deeply spiritual—home to the Maasai, Hadzabe, and countless other communities that live in tune with the land. Here, time slows down. You watch the sun rise over endless plains. You feel the earth tremble under a thousand hooves. You connect—with nature, with culture, and with yourself.
Zambia where the Safari was Born
In the heart of southern Africa lies Botswana—a country where time stretches as wide as the horizon, and silence speaks volumes.
Though one of the most sparsely populated nations on Earth, Botswana stands tall in prosperity, with a carefully balanced economy built on sustainable diamond mining and tourism. It’s no wonder that its Human Development Index is among the highest in Sub-Saharan Africa. But beyond the numbers, Botswana offers something even more rare: deep stillness, raw purity, and a profound connection with nature.
Over 70% of the country’s 224,000 square miles is covered by the legendary Kalahari Desert—a vast and sunbaked sea of sand. Yet within this dry expanse lies a paradoxical paradise: the Okavango Delta.

Fed by the Okavango River, this lush inland delta defies logic and geography. Instead of flowing into the ocean, the river spills into the desert, creating a vibrant, animal-rich oasis teeming with life. As photographer Frans Lanting once wrote, its “very existence in the middle of the Kalahari Desert is nothing short of miraculous… like a dream.”
And dreamlike it is. Glide silently through papyrus-lined channels in a mokoro (dugout canoe), watch elephants wade through water under a golden sky, and fall asleep to the distant call of hippos. Botswana doesn’t shout; it whispers. But its message stays with you long after you’ve gone.
Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe is a land of resilience, wild beauty, and timeless adventure. After navigating years of post-colonial challenges, the country has reclaimed its place as one of Africa’s most iconic safari destinations—rich in wildlife, culture, and natural wonder.
In Hwange National Park, the bush stretches endlessly, alive with the rhythm of the wild. Picture elephant herds moving in quiet procession, lions stalking through golden grasses, rhinos reminding us of a prehistoric past, and elegant antelopes grazing beneath acacia trees. This is quintessential East African wilderness, raw and real.
And yet, Zimbabwe offers more than incredible safaris. It is also home to one of the greatest natural spectacles on the planet: Victoria Falls, known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya—“The Smoke That Thunders.” Straddling the border with Zambia, this jaw-dropping cascade is often called the Mount Everest of waterfalls, and rightly so.

Classic Safaris and the Smoke That Thunders
The sheer power and beauty of its plummeting waters are impossible to describe—you don’t just see the falls, you feel them in your bones.
Zimbabwe is a place with deep reverence. It’s where nature roars, traditions endure, and every moment pulses with authenticity. From the savannah to the spray of the Falls, this land will stir something deep within you.

Where Worlds Converge
South Africa is a country of astonishing contrasts—so much so that it proudly calls itself Many Worlds in One Country. And rightly so. From sweeping coastlines to misty mountains, wild bushlands to vibrant cities, this southernmost land on the continent offers a dazzling range of experiences.
Twice the size of France, with 1,700 miles of coastline touching both the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, South Africa is vast and rich in wonder. It’s home to Kruger National Park, one of Africa’s largest and most wildlife-dense reserves, where the Big Five roam across vast savannahs. To the east rise the Drakensberg Mountains, sometimes snow-capped, always majestic, and steeped in myth and culture.
But perhaps nowhere do South Africa’s many worlds meet more elegantly than on the Cape Peninsula—a dramatic merging of sea and land that takes your breath away with every bend in the road.
Whether you’re watching elephants cross the plains at sunset or waking up to the sound of lions calling in the distance, Kenya is a place that pulls you deep into the rhythms of nature. It’s also where the heartbeat of FemmVoyage’s African adventures begins—because here, wild beauty and deep heritage dance side by side.

Naminia

Rwanda
Rwanda may be small—just a bit larger than Vermont—but it shines like a precious emerald in the heart of Africa. A land of sparkling lakes, mist-wrapped volcanoes, and an inspiring national spirit, Rwanda is a country where nature and progress walk hand in hand.
Its capital, Kigali, is clean, safe, and brimming with style and soul—often called one of Africa’s most inviting cities. It’s also globally leading in gender equality: 61% of Rwanda’s parliamentarians are women, making it the most female-represented legislative body in the world. That alone speaks volumes about Rwanda’s modern heartbeat and forward-looking spirit.
But Rwanda’s wild soul lives in the Parc National des Volcans—Africa’s first national park, created in 1925. Here, nestled among bamboo forests and volcanic peaks, you can embark on a guided trek to visit one of the world’s last populations of mountain gorillas.

Volcanoes, Vision, and the Gentle Giants
Staying in some of Africa’s most beautiful eco-lodges, you’ll rise early, hike into the clouds, and share an intimate moment with these majestic creatures.
To look into a gorilla’s eyes—so human, so knowing—is to feel something shift inside. It’s an encounter not just with nature, but with our shared place within it.
Rwanda is a destination of deep impact—a place where conservation, culture, and feminine strength converge. It reminds us that true beauty lies in resilience, in community, and in the quiet power of the mountains.
