3 Days to Go
Day’s First Surf Camp Adventure
She rides waves like she rides life – wild, salty, and smiling.
Nerves, Sun & Salted Dreams
Three more sleeps. That’s all that’s left before Day zips up her boardbag, slips into her favorite bikini, and runs headfirst into her very first surf camp. Her first camp ever, actually. No parents. No familiar faces. Just a stretch of salty beach, crashing waves, and a week filled with sun-kissed freedom, fearless fun, and a whole lot of “first times.”

Born to Surf, Built to Shine
First time camping under the stars.
First time falling asleep to the sound of the ocean.
First time catching a wave (and wiping out gloriously).
First time dancing barefoot at sunset.
First time being brave… and doing it all on her own.
It’s the kind of countdown that feels electric — excitement tangled with just the right amount of nerves. Will she stand up on the board? Will she make instant surf besties? Will she remember how to roll up her sleeping bag without help?
Who cares.
Not all girls are made of sugar and spice… some are made of saltwater and surf wax.
This isn’t about being perfect.
This is about diving into summer with wild, open arms.
It’s about salt in your hair, sand in your sheets, and a smile that refuses to fade.
It’s about stepping outside your comfort zone and straight into the swell.
She’s ready for bruised knees and beach bonfires.
For sunsets that feel like freedom.
For early-morning surf sessions and late-night giggles in sandy tents.
For stories she’ll be telling all year long.
Three days to go.
And Day is about to become the girl who rides her own wave — literally. 🏄♀️🌊💕

One Girl, One Summer, A Million Waves Later
And Then… It Finally Begins – Off to Surf Camp!
And then finally — finally — the day arrives.
The day we’ve been talking about, dreaming about, and packing for over and over again.
It’s surf camp day. It’s happening.
Halfway through the afternoon, we hit the road toward Ouddorp. Next to me, Day is buzzing. A little nervous. A lot excited. She must’ve said it at least a thousand times these past few weeks:
“I can’t wait! Mam, I really can’t wait!”

And now… here we are.
We park the car near the dunes, and Day begins unloading her mountain of gear. Her arms full, her backpack bigger than she is, sleeping bag, pillows, surf stuff, snacks, a candle (for cozy vibes), and of course — that one stuffed animal that simply had to come along.
She walks ahead, proudly but nervously, toward the entrance of Beachclub Natural High — the meeting point where the first campers are already gathering. A group of girls sits halfway down the beach, checking people in and handing out the first bracelets of the week. Camp is ON.
After a quick registration and handing over the luggage to a van that will drop it at the tent site, we follow the flow. Just behind the beach club, a big canvas tent flutters in the sea breeze. It’s where everyone gathers to meet the crew and hear what’s in store for the week.
Day looks around wide-eyed, her nerves bubbling just beneath her sun-kissed skin. Luckily, she’s not alone. Her friend Isabella is right there beside her, sharing the same butterflies and wide grins. They sit close, like two brave little grown-ups, listening carefully to the welcome talk and sneaking side-glances at the other kids. Their group? Ages 13–16. Some girls look older, more confident — but that’s part of the magic, too.
And then… the moment.
The one I was dreading just a little.
The goodbye.
No, don’t cry, Mama. Not now.
Just a quick kiss.
(Real fast, because, well… you’re not really supposed to kiss moms anymore at this age.)

With the welcome speech wrapped up, the campers are split into groups and given a quick beach briefing. Then — it’s time.
They walk over to the row of bikes waiting patiently in the sand. One by one, the girls hop on, forming their first little surf tribe. A final wave, a nervous laugh, and then they’re off — pedaling together toward their summer of salt, sand, and freedom.
Day is on her way.
Let the adventure begin
